Pat-Michael Palmiero, M.D. is a board-certified Ophthalmologist specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. In addition, he performs cataract surgery and comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages. He treats each patient with personalized care, tailoring their treatment to fit their lifestyle and individual needs.

Dr. Palmiero grew up in New York and completed his undergraduate studies at both Manhattan College and the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated with honors from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 2006 and then completed his internship at Westchester Medical Center-New York Medical College. He went on to complete a two-year glaucoma research fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he focused his research on novel anterior segment imaging technology for patients with glaucoma and corneal pathology. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College and received fellowship training in glaucoma at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.

Dr. Palmiero has distinguished himself at each level of his training. During his internship at Westchester Medical Center-New York Medical College, he received the “Intern of the Year” Award for his outstanding performance and dedication to patient care. In 2010, he was the recipient of a “Lifetime Achievement” Award from the Italian-American Society of Benevento. He went on to become chief resident in ophthalmology at New York Medical College and served as the Joseph and Geraldine LaMotta Fellow during his glaucoma fellowship with Dr. Robert Ritch at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has authored and co-authored over 30 medical and scientific papers, and abstracts, and has presented his findings nationally and internationally. In addition to practicing at Hudson Valley Eye Surgeons, Dr. Palmiero is currently serving as the Director of Glaucoma Services at St. Luke’s Hospital in NYC.

Dr. Palmiero is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, International Society of Refractive Surgery, New York State Ophthalmological Society, and the American Medical Association.
